According to the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, at least 10 people have been diagnosed with monkeypox in the past week, and more cases may emerge as the investigation continues. Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus, which is similar to but less severe than smallpox. The virus is endemic in central and West African countries, where sporadic outbreaks occur among humans and animals, especially rodents and primates. Monkeypox can be transmitted to humans through direct contact with infected animals or their fluids, such as blood, saliva, or pus, or through contact with contaminated surfaces or materials.
