UAE shown interest to launch ferry service to Karachi: Pak Envoy

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed interest in launching a ferry service between Dubai and Karachi, according to Pakistan's envoy in the UAE, Afzaal Mahmood. Mahmood stated that the UAE government is keen on expanding the existing ties between the two countries and exploring new avenues of cooperation, and the proposed ferry service is one such initiative.

The proposed ferry service would not only enhance bilateral trade between the UAE and Pakistan but also offer a comfortable and affordable mode of transportation for passengers. Currently, air travel is the only viable option for those who wish to travel between the two countries, and it can be quite expensive for many.

Mahmood also highlighted that the ferry service would not only benefit Pakistan but also create opportunities for the UAE to explore new markets and expand its trade relations in the region. The proposed ferry service could potentially connect Dubai to other ports in Pakistan and even neighboring countries like Iran and Oman, providing a new avenue for trade and investment.

The envoy further emphasized that the UAE and Pakistan enjoy strong economic and trade relations, and the proposed ferry service would strengthen this bond even further. The UAE is one of Pakistan's top trading partners, with bilateral trade between the two countries amounting to over $8 billion in 2020.

The proposed ferry service would also promote tourism between the two countries, which would be a win-win for both. Pakistan has much to offer in terms of natural beauty, culture, and history, and the UAE is home to many popular tourist destinations, making it an attractive proposition for travelers from both sides.

However, the proposed ferry service is still in its initial stages, and many details need to be worked out before it can become a reality. Mahmood stated that the Pakistani embassy in the UAE is in touch with relevant authorities and stakeholders to explore the feasibility of the project and identify any potential hurdles.

In conclusion, the proposed ferry service between Dubai and Karachi is an exciting initiative that has the potential to enhance bilateral trade, promote tourism, and strengthen the already strong ties between the UAE and Pakistan. As details emerge, it will be interesting to see how this project develops and the impact it has on the relationship between the two countries.
