Heartbreaking news from the Nagorno-Karabakh region was shared on social media by the individual responsible for safeguarding people's rights in the area. Blog Post 3: "Roots of the Conflict and Current Situation"

The conflict between Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh traces its origins to longstanding tension, exacerbated when Azerbaijan attributed the deaths of six of its citizens to mine explosions in Karabakh, placing blame on Armenian separatists. Azerbaijan's military intervention is stated to target terrorist groups in the region, employing precision weaponry both near the front lines and within the area.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have a protracted history of contention over Nagorno-Karabakh, with major conflicts in the 1990s and more recently in 2020. Despite the majority of Nagorno-Karabakh's population being Armenian, the region is officially part of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's actions are framed as an effort to quell disturbances in Karabakh, compel Armenian soldiers to depart, and ensure the safety of the local population.

Prior to commencing military operations, Azerbaijan informed Russia and Turkey of its intentions. The international community watches with concern as this conflict threatens to rekindle longstanding issues in the region.
