HRCP Criticizes PM Kakar’s Statement as Undemocratic

Blog Post 1: HRCP Criticizes Caretaker PM's Statement on Elections

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has voiced its concerns over recent comments made by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar regarding the upcoming elections. PM Kakar suggested that elections could proceed fairly even without the presence of Imran Khan and several members of his party who are currently in jail on various charges. The HRCP believes these remarks to be undemocratic and unfair.

In his statement, PM Kakar indicated that Imran Khan's incarceration wouldn't impact the fairness of the elections. However, the HRCP disagrees with this assertion, emphasizing that the courts have not yet established the guilt of all those arrested. They assert that it is inappropriate for the prime minister to make such claims and that determining what constitutes a 'fair' election is not within the government's purview.

Blog Post 2: Concerns Over PTI Leadership Dismantling

The HRCP has expressed deep concerns about the systematic dismantling of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership through mass arrests and legal actions, which has led many party members to disassociate themselves from the PTI. This has raised serious worries about the fairness of the impending elections.

The HRCP highlights the alarming situation where numerous cases have been filed against political figures, further complicating the political landscape. These actions cast a shadow of doubt over the integrity of the electoral process.

Blog Post 3: HRCP Calls for Fair Elections and Condemns Rearrest

The HRCP strongly condemns the rearrest of former chief minister and PTI President Parvez Elahi, which goes against the Lahore High Court's directive. They emphasize that the responsibility for ensuring fair elections lies with the Election Commission of Pakistan, not the caretaker government.

The HRCP urges the caretaker government to refrain from making biased statements about matters beyond their mandate. Instead, they call on the government to focus on creating and maintaining a fair and inclusive environment to ensure credible elections, safeguarding the democratic principles that Pakistan holds dear.
