The 71-year-old assailant, Joseph Juba, now faces serious charges, including a hate crime charge, due to the severity of his actions. When the child's mother called for help, stating that their landlord was attacking them, the situation took a tragic turn. Both the mother and child were found by the police with multiple stab wounds, leading to the heartbreaking loss of 6-year-old Vidya Al-Fayum. The mother, Hanan Şahinat, is hospitalized with severe injuries but is expected to survive.
