 Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s Arrival in Pakistan

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, for a three-day official visit from April 22 to April 24. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including his spouse, cabinet members, and a large team of businesspeople. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan in various sectors, including trade, energy, and agriculture.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Regional Cooperation

During his visit to Pakistan, President Raisi is scheduled to meet with top Pakistani leaders, including the prime minister, president, Senate chairman, and National Assembly speaker. The meetings focus on deepening cooperation in multiple areas, such as energy and agriculture, and discussing regional and global issues, including combating terrorism. Additionally, Pakistan and Iran are considering a special economic zone to promote trade and explore a potential gas pipeline project.

 Special Economic Zone and President Raisi’s Itinerary

Iran and Pakistan have agreed to establish a joint special economic zone along the Ramdan-Gabad border to boost economic ties. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed during President Raisi’s visit. Besides official meetings, he will travel to Karachi and Lahore, visiting important landmarks like the mausoleums of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam. Security has been heightened for the high-profile visit, and a public holiday has been declared in Karachi on April 23.
