Pakistan’s Efforts to Eradicate Polio
Pakistan has been striving to eradicate polio, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to discuss ongoing efforts. The meeting took place during the World Economic Forum (WEF) Special Meeting, where they addressed the need for sustained collaboration to achieve a polio-free Pakistan. The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s successful immunization strategies and thanked Gates for his support in the fight against polio. Strengthening Partnerships with the Gates Foundation
During their meeting, Bill Gates and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed expanding collaborations beyond polio eradication. Gates recalled the success of the immunization program in Punjab under Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, suggesting that this model be used across the country. The leaders also talked about other ongoing activities between Pakistan and the Gates Foundation, focusing on immunization, nutrition, and financial inclusion. This discussion reflected the broad range of areas in which the Foundation has been a valuable partner to Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
Building a Stronger Future with Bill Gates
