Shehbaz Sharif’s Bold Proposal: Strengthening Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Ties
In a number of significant diplomatic gatherings, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that his nation is committed to enhancing its economic ties with significant nations. Strengthening bilateral cooperation in several areas was the aim of his talks with Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, Qohir Rasulzoda of Tajikistan, and Vladimir Putin of Russia.
During the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, President Putin and Prime Minister Shehbaz talked about enhancing trade, energy, and agricultural ties between Pakistan and Russia. Since they both had an interest in enhancing food security, they investigated strategies to increase commerce by considering a barter system as a possible means of exchange for money.
In order to improve connectivity and increase trade via Karachi Port, PM Shehbaz of Tajikistan highlighted the significance of infrastructure development and suggested building road and rail connections. In addition to the quicker completion of the CASA-1000 power project and the discussions for a preferential trade agreement, the signing of a Strategic Partnership Agreement was a significant step towards promoting economic cooperation.
Additionally, PM Shehbaz stressed the need of stability in Afghanistan for regional development in his talks with President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, with a view to advancing trade deals and enhancing economic cooperation. PM Shehbaz also suggested institutional measures to strengthen economic connections at the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit, highlighting shared historical and cultural links.
President Putin and other leaders reaffirmed their commitment to economic integration and communication in the face of geopolitical upheavals during the SCO summit, which also underlined regional cooperation.
