PTI's Rawalpindi Rally: Section 144 Imposed
In anticipation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) rally on September 28 & 29 in Rawalpindi, the government has imposed Section 144 to maintain law and order. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan had announced the rally to show support for their leader, Imran Khan. Although the party had initially sought permission for the rally from the Deputy Commissioner's office, they later withdrew their request, sparking concern over potential disruptions.
Omar Ayub Khan, a key opposition leader, has urged supporters to attend in large numbers, stating it is their legal and constitutional right. Despite the imposition of Section 144, many roads in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Attock have been blocked with heavy containers as a precautionary measure.
The rally will be led by PTI's Ali Amin Gandhapur and other leaders, with thousands expected to attend. The Punjab government has warned of strict legal actions against anyone who disturbs the peace. Security measures remain tight as tensions rise in the city.
