India’s Foreign Minister Visits Pakistan for SCO Summit After Almost a Decade

India's External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, has made a significant visit to Pakistan, marking the first of its kind in nearly a decade. This visit coincides with the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, where member states including China, India, Russia, and Pakistan, alongside observer nations, will convene.

Pakistan joined the SCO as a full member in 2017, and this summit will be chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the visit, Jaishankar stressed that no bilateral issues will be discussed, focusing solely on the SCO agenda.

The summit, attended by heads of state and foreign ministers, including China’s Premier Li Qiang, will feature key speeches, including opening remarks by PM Shehbaz. The event will highlight regional cooperation among member nations and efforts to enhance collective security and development.

This diplomatic engagement underscores the SCO’s growing importance in fostering cooperation in a region with historically complex relationships.
