Pak-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) Explores Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Pakistan and the UAE are strengthening their long-standing partnership by discussing new avenues for collaboration during the 12th Pak-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) session in Abu Dhabi. Key topics include economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on preventing double taxation, transfer pricing audits, and financial practices such as base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS).

Pakistan is pushing for lifting the visa ban on its workers, which would significantly boost remittances from the UAE. The two nations will also explore mutual legal assistance and cooperation in combating human trafficking. Proposals in the banking and petroleum sectors, including joint ventures, will be tabled. Pakistan seeks to strengthen ties in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), artificial intelligence, and maritime business, particularly in the Port of Gwadar.

This collaboration highlights the commitment of both nations to expanding cooperation and overcoming challenges like settling longstanding financial disputes, such as the M/s Etisalat issue.
