Pakistan Approves Haj Policy 2025, Eases Pilgrimage for 180,000 Pakistanis

The federal cabinet of Pakistan has approved the Haj Policy 2025, paving the way for nearly 180,000 Pakistanis to perform Haj. This new policy introduces a 50-50 government-private scheme, supporting equal access for all. Importantly, the policy bans children under 12 from participating to ensure safety. A new administrative role, Nazim, will manage groups of 100 pilgrims at key sites like Arafat, Muzdalifa, and Mina.

To facilitate smoother travel, the ‘Road-to-Makkah’ initiative will operate at Islamabad and Karachi airports. Additionally, a Haj Management App has been introduced to assist pilgrims with journey and training details. The government has increased the compensation for the families of deceased pilgrims from Rs 1 million to Rs 2 million, with Rs 1 million available for injuries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reserved seats for low-paid laborers and those who missed last year’s selection. Pakistan’s commitment to the welfare and safety of its citizens on this spiritual journey is evident through these comprehensive reforms.
