Pakistan’s New AI Policy: Strengthening Cybersecurity for a Secure Digital Future

Pakistan is stepping into the future with its first-ever AI policy, designed to bolster cybersecurity and make the digital landscape safer. Announced by Syed Junaid Imam, an official at the Ministry of IT and Telecom, the policy is set to position Pakistan among the world’s leading nations in cybersecurity. With real-time threat detection and AI-driven responses, the country’s online space will become more resilient, benefiting citizens, businesses, and the economy.

The AI policy focuses on creating a robust digital infrastructure that supports growth while keeping data and transactions secure. Investments are being made in cybersecurity frameworks, including the establishment of a national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and sector-specific CERTs for critical areas like banking, telecom, and education. These teams will ensure coordinated responses to cyber threats, helping to protect vital digital assets.

Through this initiative, Pakistan is aligning itself with global cybersecurity standards, which could soon see it ranked among the top countries in the Global Cybersecurity Index. This AI policy isn’t just about security; it’s about creating a digital economy that can flourish in a secure, innovative environment, attracting investment and fostering technological advancements for years to come.
