UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Global Education on International Day of Education
On January 24, the UAE celebrated the International Day of Education, highlighting the importance of education in transforming lives. The government believes that education can bring about positive change and is essential for individual and societal development. By recognizing this day, the UAE aims to inspire others to value and invest in education, both locally and globally.
The UAE is actively involved in providing quality education, especially in areas affected by humanitarian crises. Many regions around the world face challenges such as war and poverty, which hinder children’s access to education. The UAE’s commitment includes efforts to reach those who need help the most, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn and grow.
One significant initiative is the Digital School, launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. This project aims to support education continuity in Lebanon and has initially benefited 40,000 students. By providing digital resources, the Digital School helps students keep learning, even during difficult times. This innovative approach shows how technology can play a vital role in education.
Since its launch in 2020, the Digital School has expanded its reach, helping over 160,000 students across 13 countries. It has also trained more than 2,500 digital teachers, making quality education accessible in various languages. This expansion reflects the UAE's dedication to creating a more educated global community, regardless of geographical barriers.
The UAE has also made significant financial contributions to education. Since 2018, it has donated $200 million to the Global Partnership for Education. This funding supports educational programs in developing countries, highlighting the UAE's commitment to improving education worldwide. Such efforts are crucial for building a brighter future for children in need.
In addition to these initiatives, the UAE emphasizes education as a key part of its foreign aid strategy. The country supports various educational projects, particularly for Syrian refugees, ensuring that education remains a priority in its humanitarian efforts. By continuing to enhance its education sector and invest in global education, the UAE is setting a strong example for others to follow.
