How to Pay Mobile Registration Tax in Pakistan

 


In Pakistan, every mobile phone imported from another country must be registered with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This process ensures that your phone can work with local networks. If you don’t register your phone, it may get blocked, and you won’t be able to use any SIM card in it. Paying the mobile registration tax is necessary to avoid this problem. The good news is that the registration process is now simple and can be done online.

The first step is to check if your mobile phone is registered. You can do this by sending your phone’s IMEI number to 8484 through SMS or visiting the PTA website. The IMEI number is a unique code for your phone, which you can find by dialing *#06# on your mobile. If your phone is not registered, you will need to pay the tax to get it approved.

To pay the tax, visit the PTA DIRBS (Device Identification Registration and Blocking System) website. You need to create an account by entering your details like name, CNIC number, and contact information. Once your account is made, you can log in and start the registration process by providing your phone’s IMEI number and other required details.

After submitting your phone’s details, the system will calculate the tax amount you need to pay. This tax varies depending on your phone’s brand, model, and price. You can pay the tax through online banking, ATM, mobile banking apps, or by visiting any branch of your bank. Once the payment is made, you will get a confirmation message.

Once your payment is confirmed, PTA will register your phone, and you will be able to use it without any issues. The registration process usually takes a few hours, but in some cases, it might take up to 24 hours. If you face any issues, you can contact PTA’s helpline for support.

Paying mobile registration tax is important to keep your phone working in Pakistan. It is a legal requirement and also helps in reducing phone smuggling and theft. By following these simple steps, you can easily register your phone and enjoy uninterrupted mobile services.
