  NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority), established on 10th March 2000, plays a crucial role in maintaining and regulating the citizen databases of Pakistan. The agency introduced the Smart National Identity Card (SNIC) in 2012, which has transformed how citizens interact with government services. The SNIC is equipped with a data chip and 36 security features, making it a secure and versatile tool for a variety of official tasks. It is essential for activities such as voting, opening bank accounts, pension disbursement, and more. Every Pakistani citizen aged 18 and above is eligible for a NIC.   OPEC's September 2024 report shines a spotlight on the UAE’s booming non-oil sector.   Pakistani actress Hania Amir has taken swift action against an Indian Instagram account responsible for sharing explicit deepfake videos of her. The viral videos, created using AI technology, fooled many of her fans into believing they were real. In response, Hania posted on her Instagram story, clarifying the videos were fake and identifying the account responsible, managed by an Indian user named ‘Anwrit Sindhu.’ With over 22,000 followers, the account had shared numerous fake videos of Hania. After fans joined her efforts in reporting the account, the user tried to evade detection by changing the account name to ‘Core Sindhu.’ However, the damage was done, and the fake content was eventually removed.   The Federal Government has allocated Rs.2 billion to Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal (PBM), a key charity and welfare organization aimed at assisting the poor and needy in Pakistan. This significant allocation comes in response to a report revealing Rs.281 million in monetary inconsistencies.  The misallocated funds had been intended for the needy but were incorrectly used for government employees. The newly released funds are expected to resolve 28,000 pending applications, including 13,000 medical cases, and address overdue wages for PBM employees. This move is crucial for PBM, a self-autonomous body, to clear past financial discrepancies and enhance its support services. The issues arose from unauthorized fund transfers and unreturned unused funds. With this financial boost, PBM can now better serve those in need, ensuring that aid reaches its intended beneficiaries efficiently.
